- Description
- Received letter of December 19. Did not received $250 check. Writing now about food preparation of clams. Gathering information on food preparation more difficult to get down at a good rate. Spacing on the new kind of paper is different, which make 20 cent per page rate seems too low now. Will send collection on about the 12th from Port Hardy. Sending envelope of one letter received from Boas to show that they are taken up to Prince Rupert before coming to Hunt. Also sending two letters from Newcombe showing that he tried to get Hunt to work for him. Did not want to break promise of working for Boas.

- Received letter of October 18. Sent pages 3444-3467 on November 12th. Sending now pages 3468-3482, answering some recent questions. Recording stories is taking extra time as he now asks the person who owns the story to tell it, then goes to rival nEmemot to hear their version of the story. - Description
- Tried to take photo of the slab but it isn't a good one. Is sending it and other photos. Cold weather made developing plates difficult. No fresh fish so couldn't take photos of salmon or halibut. Sending 108 pages on oolichan cooking. Would Boas like subsequent writing about cooking to be just about the cooking or about the whole process surrounding it, from net-making onward, as he did with this info on oolichan. Got two nanakawalił hEmesewe for Mr. Heye with old Indian blue paint that indicates they were made prior to 1849.

- Description
- Received letter of January 13 and February 9. Thanks Boas for the gifts to his family, especially the eyeglasses. Would also like some writing tablets and envelopes and pencil lead. Trying to "correct the stories in the Book which you told me to do and I find lots of mistakes in it. For I see that I got to go all through the book to do it rightly. Some times I got to write some other story that belong to it to explain the meaning of it." Hopes that the result of Boas's meeting with the governor will be positive for Indians. Has not seen AwaxlagElas since Boas's visit, after which AwaxlagElas broke his hip. People there glad that Boas kept his promise. Glad that Boas saw Mrs. Cook, though her Kwagu'ł is "short." Sending pages 4834-4897. Has not found out who started the q!ap!ekw in ts!ets!ega and how the walasaxaakw dances disappeared. Is waiting for Charles Wilson's walasaxaakw to begin so he can write down the words of the songs. Will continue trying to correct stories from book.
