All contain autograph signature of Charles Peter Layard, secretary of the Royal Society. In them Barton is thanked for sending the following: "Collection for an essay towards a materia medica of the United States," "Papers relative to certain American antiquities," and "New views of the origin of the tribes and nations of America." 3 copies.

- Attempt by the trustees of the museum to raise money for the erection of a new building to house Peale's Museum. Faced with recurring financial difficulties, the museum had been formerly incorporated in 1821 under the name of the Philadelphia Museum Company. The new building referred to in the broadside was finally erected in 1838.

- Peter Dolland set up his famed optical shop in 1750 with the aid of his father, John Dolland, a self-taught optician. In 1766, five years after the death of John, Peter took on his brother, also named John, as partner. When John Jr. died in 1804, he was replaced by the two brothers' nephew, George Dollond (See Goodman #297: 973 C683 no. 728), who conducted the business himself after Peter's retirement in 1819.; Hays reference #: Vol. 77, no. 53.
