CONTENT DESCRIPTION
AbstractPeter Dolland set up his famed optical shop in 1750 with the aid of his father, John Dolland, a self-taught optician. In 1766, five years after the death of John, Peter took on his brother, also named John, as partner. When John Jr. died in 1804, he was replaced by the two brothers' nephew, George Dollond (See Goodman #297: 973 C683 no. 728), who conducted the business himself after Peter's retirement in 1819.
