- Received letter of February 24. Discusses in more detailed Ḵwikwa̱sutinuxw̱ photo mentioned in January 9 letter. Was arrested for going to see a hamatsa dance at Kalugwis. Blames missionaries for getting him in trouble. Was tried three times in Alert Bay, then sent to be tried in Vancouver. Mr. Spencer got him a lawyer. Bail was $500. Trial on April 17. Has to pay expenses for trip and that of witnesses. (Page 2 missing.)

- Took a trip to Dzawada̱ʼenuxw and tE!naxdox, "got lots of old things and stories.... I learnt that there is still more different kinds of dances that you and I don't know anything about. Now there is the Hamaste!kalał and the K!enk!o dance...." Tried to get some masks but too expensive. Sending 105 pages of stories "from different tribe". Will send L!eslagelas story in next mail. Going to Kingcome where "one Indian told me that he knows where this is one cave and that it has lots of masks and things in it and he wants $20 for it." Will go to HegEms where "I was told there is still another cave one of them belong to the [Dzawada̱ʼenuxw ] tribe and the other to the [Gwawaʼenuxw̱ ]." Saw some legełdox, may go see them after visit to these caves, then to caves up Knights Inlet, then to mummies at whalers grave. Lists several items bought: dishes, four poles, described in detail.

Learned that the A̱wa̱ʼetła̱la and Da̱ʼnaxdaʼx̱w have wild cherry tree beds and goat hunting mountains for each nEmemot. Wife said that is similar for the 'Nak'waxda'x̱w. There was high costs to getting all the information, including that on olachen traps. Sent pages 1353-1360 on March 30. Sending pages 1361-1382, with Knight Inlet names and answers to questions.
