This is the collector's original tape 57, program 2.The Hidatsa language and people are identified as such in the recording's accompanying documentation, but on the recording itself they are sometimes referred to by one of its alternate names, "Gros Ventre." This Gros Ventre is not to be confused with the Arapahoan language of the same name.
