Abstract | Informs him that a Prussian officer [Frederick William, baron de Woedtke?] is in camp who recently came from France by way of the West Indies and who reported that news of the American expedition • against St. Johns, [Canada] was very pleasing to the French; informs him that the Prussian officer also reported that the West Indian islands are filled with French troops and that the French are apprehensive that the British are using the war in America as a pretense to build up a large force and "then. . . fall upon them at unawares"; encloses a letter [not present] toDr. [David H. or Gibbons] Jewett who is appointed surgeon of Jedediah Huntington's regiment that urges the doctor to join the regiment immediately if he accepts the appointment. | ||
