AbstractFrom the New York Municipal Gazette Extra. The first Grinnell expedition, financed by the New York merchant and philanthropist, Henry Grinnell, was commanded by Lt. Edwin J. DeHaven and included among its crew Dr. Elisha Kent Kane, who would later lead the second Grinnell expedition in search of Franklin.
