Recorded from "Mrs. Mahone" of Neah Bay, Washington. This may be Rosa Mahone, a Klallam (nəxʷsƛ̕ay̕əm) woman noted in the 1910 U.S. census as residing in Neah Bay. This item was previously identified as being recorded by Franz Boas. The handwriting does not match Boas and there is no record of him being in the area in 1917. The recorder appears to be Leo Frachtenberg, who was working with Quileute people at nearby La Push, Washington at that time., Item S2f.2
