This collection contains a copy of the Great Law signed between William Penn and colonists when he arrived in the colony in 1682. The original is in the State Archives of Pennsylvania. Influenced by Quaker principles, the Great Law listed the crimes and punishments that the new colony would enforce and aimed to regulate morality and behavior., Conservation note at the front of the object reads: "Cleaned; resized; flattened and mended; 13 page repairs; title page backed in Japan vellum; pages stripped with japan vellum; reserved in arches paper protective folder rich cloth reinforcing strip; buckram four flap, ribbon tied portfolio. 01/15/1936.
