Received letters of May 19th and 29th. Sending pages 4738-4791 "in the old fashion language about ega or medicine killers." Will write about funeral customs next. Will be glad to help Frederica de Laguna, though is concerned she may not make it farther than Port Hardy as there are few people who know about "old fashion" people though his sister who lives there claims to. Not sure that speakers of G̱usgimukw dialect can be found as "they are losing their language," as the Kwagu'ł, Tłatła̱siḵwaḻ a, 'Nak'waxda'xw̱ , and Wuikinuxv tribes "spoilt their language." Has had trouble with his hip for more than a year and needed to use a walking stick, but is feeling better lately. Looking forward to Boas's visit.
Received letter of February 26. Sending pages 4675-4694 answering some recent questions. Glad to hear Boas is planning to come next fall. Concerned that there will are few people for Boas to talk with who can speak the language fluently in the old way. Says that "this language is disappearing."
Received letter of March 24. Sending pages 4695-4737, with part of G!anegelakw story relating to G̱usgimukw and hermaphrodites, also names for different kinds of songs. Trying to write about pExEla.
Received letter of January 13 and February 9. Thanks Boas for the gifts to his family, especially the eyeglasses. Would also like some writing tablets and envelopes and pencil lead. Trying to "correct the stories in the Book which you told me to do and I find lots of mistakes in it. For I see that I got to go all through the book to do it rightly. Some times I got to write some other story that belong to it to explain the meaning of it." Hopes that the result of Boas's meeting with the governor will be positive for Indians. Has not seen AwaxlagElas since Boas's visit, after which AwaxlagElas broke his hip. People there glad that Boas kept his promise. Glad that Boas saw Mrs. Cook, though her Kwagu'ł is "short." Sending pages 4834-4897. Has not found out who started the q!ap!ekw in ts!ets!ega and how the walasaxaakw dances disappeared. Is waiting for Charles Wilson's walasaxaakw to begin so he can write down the words of the songs. Will continue trying to correct stories from book.

Glad that Boas met Mrs. Cook, though she does not know "a thing about the potlatch" because she hasn't given one. Has not seen AwaxElagElas recently, who broke his hip. Read Boas's letter to Kwagu'ł and Ławitʼsis who send their thanks to Boas for keeping his promise. Tried to translate words Boas sent as well as those of Knight Inlet, which is quite difficult.
