Was sick, had to go up to Rivers Inlet hospital. Will write more soon about Kwagu'ł cooking. Requests Heye's address for sending collection. On way to Rivers Inlet saw Harlan Smith and Mr. Taylor on their way to Alaska. Was going to go to G̱usgimukw before he got sick. Did get photos of tree with bark split from it and salmon cooking.

Sending prayer to harpooned whale and 4 waiting songs of whaling crew and 4 towing songs. Obtained from a Gełts!emaht whaler from the West coast last summer. Sent the Heye collection except for the canoe which he couldn't get.

Was sick again and went to a doctor at Cape Scott. Sending 102 pages on clover roots cooking. Trouble with collection for Heye. Asked a Nahwitti man, Mago, to make a canoe, which may have to be paid extra for after Mago drowned. G̱usgimukw dishes that were to be obtained were stolen. However, did obtain masks from same house.

Was at Rivers Inlet learning about birth, marriage, and "how the names scatter to different tribes." Writing now about Tower of "Babylon". Writing about how Fort Rupert married to a Heiltsuk chief's dahghter, how other son and daughter got married to Haisla, and use of names through these marriages (relating to Boas' recent request to write about Fort Rupert individuals' family histories.)
