| Abstract | | Interview conducted by Roger Roulette in Ojibwe with Charlie George Owen in Pauingassi, Manitoba in September of 1994. Interview concerns viewing of photographs by A. Irving Hallowell from the 1930s, in which the interviewee identified numerous individuals (including himself) and objects, and tells stories about them. Prominent topics include the interviewee's discussion of his own experiences as a child at the time when the photographs were taken, the ways ceremonies were conducted at the time, and the abilities and influence of the medicine man Naamiwan (Fairwind), the interviewee's grandfather, who is also featured in many photographs. |
