The APS houses many of Benjamin Franklin's ledgers that document the period of his life when he was building his business alongside his wife Deborah Read Franklin and when he became Postmaster in Philadelphia. The ledgers contain a wealth of information about the Franklins and the lives of many other 18th-century Philadelphians. The Franklins' Philadelphia Ledgers Project digitized and transcribed these valuable account books. Now, for the first time, this database provides a single point of access to the Franklins' ledgers.
By using this database, users may access financial records that cover the activities of the Franklins' shop from roughly 1730 to 1748, and postal records from roughly 1742 to 1752.
